Here’s a great tip for living a detox lifestyle: Ditch the plastic, grab the glass.

Many plastic products include BPA (bisphenol A) #7, and other industrial chemicals such as bisphenol S (BPS) and phthalates #3, which have been linked to hormonal disruption and many diseases.

Also, if you do use plastic, NEVER microwave in it! Microwaving can cause plastic’s dangerous chemicals to leach into your food.

Brussels Sprouts Salad

INGREDIENTS

  • 12 Brussels sprouts
  • 2 Fuji apples
  • ½ red onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 inch piece of ginger root
  • 2 tbs. extra virgin olive oil
  • pinch of salt & pepper
  • 2 tbs. hemp seed

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Remove ends of the Brussels sprouts and sliced into tiny strips. Place in bowl and set aside.
  2. Core and peel apples. Dice into tiny pieces. Add to bowl.
  3. Peel red onion and chop finely. Add to bowl.
  4. Mash garlic clove with a knife, peel, and chop finely or mince. Add to bowl.
  5. Peel ginger root, then grate and add to bowl.
  6. Add lemon juice, olive oil, salt and pepper. Stir until well combined.
  7. Top with hemp seed and serve!
